1. Introduction
Historically and sociologically, the liberation of a territory is not merely a matter of military power, but a matter of civilizational readiness. There is a law of nature known as the Law of Social Maturity. Jerusalem, spiritually, is the world’s moral compass. It will return to the hands of those who possess a balance between intellectual strength and purity of soul. Scientifically, when a nation improves its internal quality—in education, economy, and character—it automatically builds a gravity that will pull back the rights that were taken from it.
2. Explanation
Qur’anic and Hadith Evidence
Allah SWT has decreed victory for His sincere servants:
كَتَبَ اللّٰهُ لَاَغْلِبَنَّ اَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِيْۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيْزٌ
“Allah has decreed, ‘I and My messengers will surely prevail.’ Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.” (QS. Al-Mujadilah: 21) The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also gave eternal glad tidings about a steadfast group in Baitul Maqdis:
“There will always be a group from my ummah who remain steadfast upon the religion, prevailing over their enemies. Those who oppose them will not harm them... The Companions asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah, where are they?’ He replied: ‘In Baitul Maqdis and the surroundings of Baitul Maqdis.’” (HR. Ahmad)
3. Lessons and Message
The liberation of Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem) is Allah’s certain promise. Yet the big question is not “when will it happen,” but “where will we stand when it happens?” Will we be mere spectators who complain, or will we be “civilization soldiers” whom Allah deems worthy to fulfill His promise? Heroism begins by repairing our relationship with Allah and spreading benefit to humanity. A little child amid the rubble in Palestine was asked by a journalist, “Where is your home?” The child pointed toward Al-Aqsa Mosque and said, “My home is being guarded by angels; I’m just waiting for the key brought by Muslims who have awakened from their sleep.” That innocent answer is a slap to all of us; they do not need our pity—we are the ones who need to pity ourselves for not yet being worthy to hold that key. The liberation of Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem) is like the dawn that is certain to rise. No power on earth can stop the sun from ascending. Yet only those who stay awake through the night and make preparations can enjoy the beauty of the first light. If we are still “asleep” in sin and division, the dawn will still come, but we will miss the honor of welcoming it. There are people who pray so fervently, “O Allah, liberate Al-Aqsa!” yet the next day they still litter carelessly and fight with neighbors over laundry lines. A friend quips, “How can we liberate Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem) so far away, if we still fail completely to free ourselves from the diseases of the heart and ego?” Remember, great victory begins with small victories over oneself!
4. Conclusion
Allah’s promise will never be broken. Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem) will return. Let us prepare ourselves to be worthy of becoming part of that great history. Do what you can from where you stand: improve your prayers, strengthen kinship ties, and support this religion through achievement. May Allah make us worthy to be among the ranks of Baitul Maqdis’s liberators.
