1. Preface
In social psychology, there is a phenomenon called objectification, where a human being is no longer seen as a subject with a soul and honor, but merely as a visual object. Scientifically, excessive exposure to visual stimulation in public spaces can reduce empathy and mutual respect among people.Islam comes with the concepts of Hijab and ‘Iffah (guarding honor)—not to restrict, but to restore the status of humans as beings who are valuable for the substance of their souls, not for their physical commodification. When a person covers her charm, she is actually compelling the world to see her intelligence, her character, and the nobility of her heart.2. Explanation
A woman’s heroism is when she refuses to become a “commodity” to be enjoyed by every pair of eyes. Guarding oneself is not only about clothing, but about sovereignty over oneself. A woman is like a rare and precious book; if it is neatly covered and stored in a high place, then only those with sincere intent will strive to reach it with full decorum.Let us take the word of Allah SWT and the saying of the Messenger ﷺ as our guide in preserving this nobility:
A. Qur’anic Evidence (On the Command to Cover Aurah)
“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (QS. Al-Ahzab: 59)
B. The Saying of the Messenger ﷺ (On Modesty)
اَلْحَيَاءُ لَا يَأْتِي إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ
“Modesty brings nothing but good.” (HR. Bukhari & Muslim)
3. Lessons and Message
There are many wisdoms we can reflect upon from this message of guarding the crown:Self-Sovereignty: Covering the aurah brings inner peace and freedom. A person who is properly covered will feel more valued as a complete human being, not as a display item. The Analogy of Gold in a Safe: Guarding one’s charm does not mean blaming others entirely, but rather a consciousness that you are extremely precious. Just as gold bars are not left on the sidewalk, one’s nobility must be kept in the most honorable place.Preventing Objectification: By abandoning the culture of flaunting charm, we help the social environment to value intellectual and moral aspects more than mere physicality.Preserving the Purity of the Ummah: Guarding oneself is a real contribution to safeguarding the honor of the nation and the purity of the ummah.
4. Conclusion
My noble sister, the world may change with various fashion trends, but your dignity must not collapse. Do not let yourself become an object of visual abuse for those who have no right.By covering your charm, you are performing a great act of worship: preserving the purity of yourself and the ummah. Let us return to an Islamic culture that humanizes humans, so that love and affection remain in a place that is lawful, pure, and full of blessing.
