1. Preface

Have we ever reflected that faith is not mere blind obedience, but conviction rooted in objective truth? The Qur’an is not a book of science, yet it is a “Book of Signs.” When modern science has only just unveiled the veil of darkness beyond Earth’s atmosphere—where light no longer scatters and space becomes pitch black—the Qur’an had already spoken of it centuries ago. This is proof that the God we worship is the designer of the universe with absolute precision. Allah SWT says:

وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَظَلُّوا فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ. لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَسْحُورُونَ

“And if We opened to them a gate into heaven and they continued to ascend through it, they would say, ‘Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic. (QS. Al-Hijr : 14-15)

2. Explanation

Imagine the feeling of astronauts the first time they pierced the atmosphere. Accustomed to seeing the blue sky, they were suddenly confronted with pitch darkness even though the sun was still shining. At that moment, their reaction seemed to be a direct echo of a verse revealed in the desert 1,400 years ago. The miracles of the earlier prophets were like a matchstick; they flared brilliantly but were extinguished after the event passed. Yet the miracle of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the Sun; it is an intellectual miracle whose light grows ever brighter with the advance of knowledge.In the past, some may have mocked the idea, assuming the sky was full of bright sunlight. It turns out that without an atmosphere to scatter light, outer space is darker than anything. The Qur’an had already given this scientific “spoiler” long before human technology reached it. The presence of this message is a form of God’s mercy to the universe:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ

“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” (QS. Al-Anbiya : 107)

3. Lessons and Message

The fundamental lesson from this scientific truth is about humility (Tawadhu). Humans, with all their technology, only understood the secrets of the sky after thousands of years, while the Creator had already conveyed them through the tongue of a Prophet who never studied astronomy.

The moral message: let us not be arrogant with the little knowledge we possess. Allah’s knowledge is as vast as the ocean, and we are merely a drop of water on a fingertip.

4. Conclusion

My brothers and sisters, the Qur’an is a miracle unweathered by time because it is a mercy to all the worlds. If today you doubt your path in life, return to the Qur’an. If even the secrets of the sky are revealed with such accuracy, what more the secrets of tranquility within your heart. May we not only read its letters, but also grasp the light of its truth to guide every step we take
