Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

1. Opening

Scientifically, every complex system—from microprocessors to galactic ecosystems—runs on a set of fixed laws. Human beings are the most complex biological and psychological system on earth. Our brain processes millions of signals per second, and our emotions run deeper than we can measure. In systems management, malfunctions often happen not because of hardware failure, but because of “procedural errors”—human error. The human soul feels calm and stable when it operates according to its natural design. True tranquility comes when the “software” of our behavior is aligned with the “hardware” of our creation.

Allah SWT sent down the Qur’an as the official manual so the human machine doesn’t malfunction:

إِنَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ يَهۡدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقۡوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٗا كَبِيرٗا

“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to what is most upright and gives glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that for them will be a great reward.” (QS. Al-Isrā’: 9)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also stressed the importance of holding firmly to this “manual”:

تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ أَمْرَيْنِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا مَا تَمَسَّكْتُمْ بِهِمَا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَسُنَّةَ نَبِيِّهِ

“I have left among you two things; you will never go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet.” (HR. Malik)

2. Lessons and Message

The greatest arrogance of humans is thinking we know better how to live our lives than the One who created life itself. Following the Creator’s manual—the Qur’an and Sunnah—is not a restriction, but liberation from confusion. By following the guide, we save ourselves from trial and error that could be fatal for our Hereafter.

There was once a young man whose life was wrecked by drugs and reckless living. At rock bottom, he found his mother’s old Qur’an. He read a verse that meant, “Is Allah not sufficient for His servant?” He broke down crying and realized he had been trying to “fix” his sadness with substances, when his soul only needed to return to its default setting—its fitrah. He said, “It was like finally finding the map home after being lost for decades in a dark forest.” Returning to the guide is the fastest way home to peace. If you buy an expensive refrigerator, you read the manual from the factory engineer so it doesn’t break or explode. You wouldn’t ask a tailor how to run a fridge, right? It’s the same with life. If you want to know how to be truly happy, ask the Maker of Humans through the Qur’an. Chasing happiness outside Allah’s rules is like loading a washing machine with clothes but pouring in motor oil—nothing gets clean, it just gets dirtier and breaks down.

Humans are funny. Buy a new gadget and we read the manual cover to cover, slap on a screen protector, buy the toughest case. We panic over the tiniest scratch. But with our life and heart? We use them recklessly. No “anti-sin” screen guard, no “faith” protective case. When life’s screen cracks and the battery swells from sin, then we scramble for a quick repair. If only we’d read the manual from the start, it wouldn’t be so dramatic.

3. Conclusion and Closing

My blessed brothers and sisters, an engineer’s manual only guarantees a product lasts a few years. But the Manual from the Creator—the Qur’an and Sunnah—guarantees your safety from this world into eternity. Don’t let your life’s manual collect dust on a shelf while your soul dies from procedural errors. Read it, understand it, live it—and the machine of your life will run with full blessings
