Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

1. Opening
Neurobiologically, the human brain has a system called the Reward System. When we do something aligned with our _fitrah_—our biological design—such as giving, socializing well, and being grateful, the brain releases oxytocin and serotonin, making us feel calm and happy. Conversely, when we violate that design through excessive stress or destructive behavior, our nervous system “errors” and we experience anxiety. Science proves that true happiness occurs when our body’s operation is in sync with its natural rules. We were created with precision, so peace of mind can only be achieved if we follow the rhythm set by the Designer.
Allah SWT has sent down guidance so we do not get lost while operating our lives:
الٓرۚ كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَيۡكَ لِتُخۡرِجَ ٱلنَّاسَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ
“Alif, Lām, Rā. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, that you might bring mankind out of darkness into the light by permission of their Lord—to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy.” (QS. Ibrāhīm: 1)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also stressed the importance of this manual as a guarantee of safety:
تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ أَمْرَيْنِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا مَا تَمَسَّكْتُمْ بِهِمَا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَسُنَّةَ نَبِيِّهِ
“I have left among you two things; you will never go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet.” (HR. Malik)
2. Lessons and Message
Allah’s rules are not made to restrict our freedom, but to safeguard us. Freedom without guidance is destruction. Just like traffic signs are made not to hinder your trip, but to ensure you get home safely. Living life according to the Creator’s manual is the highest form of honoring yourself as a noble creation. A convert once told the story of his dark past before embracing Islam. He had everything—money, fame, and luxury—yet he constantly felt like ending his life. He felt his soul was like a noisy, overheating machine. One day he read a translation of the Qur’an about the reality of human creation. He wept uncontrollably and said, “For 40 years I tried to fix my life with my own ideas, yet all this time I just needed to read the instructions from the One who made me.” From that moment, the noisy machine of his soul became calm because he finally found the right “lubricant.”
A Boeing 787 is an extremely complex machine. No sane pilot flies using only “feelings” or “personal logic” without following the flight manual. If even a man-made machine needs a manual to avoid crashing, what about humans with trillions of cells and complex emotions? Living without the Creator’s manual is like flying a plane in a snowstorm with your eyes closed—you’re just waiting to crash.
We’re often funny. Buy a new rice cooker for just $20, and we read the manual carefully so the rice won’t burn or the machine won’t explode. But we’re given this one and only life that is priceless, and its manual [the Qur’an] just sits as decoration on the top shelf collecting dust. Then when our life gets “burned” and our fate “explodes” because of endless problems, we blame the devil. Yet the devil was just passing by—the fault is ours: the machine is made by Allah, but we operate it according to our own whims!
3. Conclusion and Closing
My blessed brothers and sisters, you are not a random product, so do not live carelessly. Return to the official manual from your Creator: the Qur’an and Sunnah. That is where the secret lies to keep the machine of your soul durable, peaceful, and ultimately able to “land” beautifully in His Paradise. May today we be more diligent in opening the “Manual” of our lives than in opening useless apps
