1. Opening
In engineering, every machine has an operational threshold. If a machine is forced to run outside its design specifications, thermal runaway occurs—excessive heat that damages core components. Humans, biologically, also have a stress threshold. When we live driven only by ambition without spiritual synchronization, our brains continuously produce cortisol. Scientifically, an uneasy soul is a signal from your nervous system that your soul’s “engine” is experiencing abnormal friction because the lubricant of faith has run dry. True tranquility is only achieved when the frequency of our deeds aligns with the resonance of the fitrah designed by the Creator.
Allah SWT warns of the consequences of ignoring His official manual:
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا
“And whoever turns away from My remembrance—indeed, he will have a depressed life.” (QS. Thāhā: 124)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also reminded us of total loss if we misorient how we operate life:
إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَى صُوَرِكُمْ وَأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَأَعْمَالِكُمْ
“Indeed, Allah does not look at your appearances and your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your deeds.” (HR. Muslim)
2. Lessons and Message
Success in life is not measured by how luxurious our outer “packaging” is, but by how healthy our inner “engine” functions. Using the wrong manual will make you look successful in people’s eyes, yet suffer permanent damage before God. The moral: make sure your life’s operating system comes from the Qur’an so you don’t just survive—you truly live.
There was once a man who was materially very successful but always felt a tightness in his chest. He tried to find peace across the world, but got nothing. One day, he saw a construction worker eating lunch with dry bread, yet his face looked radiant and serene. When asked his secret, the worker said, “I just follow God’s instructions today: honest while working and prostrate when He calls me. My engine is calm because I know who owns it.” The wealthy man broke down, realizing he had been “overheating”—having everything, yet his soul was burning because he used the wrong life manual.
Imagine you own a cutting-edge supercar. But because you think you’re smarter than its engineers, you fill it with seawater instead of gasoline. The result? System crash! Physically the car still looks beautiful, but its functionality is dead. That’s a human who’s tech-savvy, masters the stock market, but is blind to life’s purpose. He’s a machine that’s physically advanced, yet dead in essential function. Smart in this world, but “stalled” on the way to the Hereafter
We often fear voiding our phone’s warranty more than voiding our Hereafter safety warranty. If a phone falls in water, we rush it to an authorized service center fearing it’s a total loss. But if our life falls into sin, we casually say, “I’ll reset it when I’m old.” The problem is, human life doesn’t have a battery indicator like a phone. Don’t let it be that when you try to make a claim in the Hereafter, the angel says: “Sorry, the unit is severely damaged. Warranty void due to improper use of the manual while on earth!”
3. Conclusion and Closing
My blessed brothers and sisters, avoid these three dangers. Don’t let your heart burn with anxiety, don’t let your mind be ruined by blindness of purpose, and don’t let yourself suffer total loss in the Hereafter. Use the original manual—the Qur’an and Sunnah—as your primary guide. Because no one knows better how to maintain a creation than the One who created it.May our lives always remain under the care of the All-Creating Master
