1. Opening
Biologically, every human begins as a single cell carrying a genetic code [DNA] 3 billion characters long. If printed, it would fill thousands of books. Yet the miracle of humans isn’t just in the biological hardware, but in the cognitive capacity and spiritual consciousness that no other creature possesses. In neuroscience, we know neuroplasticity: the brain’s ability to redesign itself. This proves humans were designed to keep growing and return to a point of balance. Our soul feels cool and in sync when we realize that every cell in our body is actually engaged in dhikr, following the “algorithm” set by the Creator.
Allah SWT affirms why humans are a creation that must be honored by all inhabitants of the heavens:
وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمۡ عَلَى ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
“And He taught Adam the names of all things, then He presented them to the angels.” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 31)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also reminded us that each of us is born with a perfect operating system:
كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَة
“Every child is born upon the fitrah [pure state, original design].” (HR. Bukhārī & Muslim)
2. Lessons and Message
You are a masterpiece, the finest work of the Creator. The angels were commanded to prostrate to Prophet Adam not because of his physical form made from clay, but because of the software of knowledge and trust that Allah installed within him. So do not devalue yourself by following a worldly current that corrupts. Valuing yourself means maintaining the “software” of faith and character so it stays aligned with the standard of nobility you had when you were first created.
There’s a story about an old woodcarver who found an antique chair he had made decades ago at a dump. The chair was broken, dull, and caked with mud. Others saw trash, but the carver wept because he remembered every chisel mark he had carved with love. He brought the chair home, cleaned it gently, and restored it until it was magnificent again. That is how Allah is with us; even when we feel “broken” and “dirty” from sin, Allah the Owner is always waiting for us to “Return to the Factory” to restore our nobility.[repent]
Imagine you own the most advanced supercomputer in the world. Would you use it just to prop a door open or as a cutting board for onions? Of course not! You would install the best operating system and guard it from viruses. That’s what humans are like; Allah has installed “Heavenly Software” [intellect and revelation] within us. Using life only for eating, sleeping, and lust is like using a supercomputer just as a seat. Return to your original function as a khalifah so your worth remains intact.
We often panic more when our phone hangs or gets a virus than when our life hangs. If our phone slows down a bit, we immediately look for a factory reset. But when our prayer starts to “lag,” our honesty starts to “error,” and our heart is full of the “junk” of hatred, we stay relaxed. Yet repentance is the spiritual version of a factory reset. Don’t let yourself die in a system crash because of too many “downloads” of sins that were never cleaned!
3. Conclusion and Closing
My blessed brothers and sisters, you are too precious to be ruined. Return to the Creator’s rules through the Qur’an and Sunnah. Remember, you were created to be noble, so live in a way that honors your Creator. Let us go home to our fitrah, back to the “factory settings” filled with light and knowledge
